Those dancing feet!, September 1, 2005
I have to admit that I bought a pair of these on the name alone. Not adidas but Samba. Anything that evokes the spirit of Latin flair and mysterious rythym is sure to get my attention. Though perhaps a litle understated in their plain black and white design they certainly do the job. I doubt you could do better for a pair of retro-styled trainers.

My pair were of undoubted quality but I noticed a small irritating rubbing on my toes during the first days of wear. I investigated inside the shoe and to my surprise I found that a small note had been wedged into the roof of the trainer. The handwriting was obviously not in English script and appeared rather hastily drawn. I thought I recognised some of the wording as chinese and so consulted Mr Fong my local caterer. He told me that good manners prevented him from giving a direct translation but it had something to do with inserting the footwear into a bodily orifice rather than wearing them on my feet. To be honest I have had my share of experiences with disgruntled employees so I paid it little heed, and got on with enjoying these superb trainers that somebody has obviously lovingly hand crafted.

Tiny chimes from heaven, April 29, 2005
After a long spell out of society I was advised that the best way to get back in touch with my fellow man was through the medium of music. My parole officer advised me that creative activities such as playing an instrument tend to show us how cultured and worthwhile the lives of humans are, rather than looking on one's fellow man as a fetid and putrid beast. I have always enjoyed listening to music and whilst not being equipped to learn any complex instrument percussion is definitely where it's at for me!

I purchased this pulse triangle as a means of beginning the road to becoming the next Phil Collins or Ringo Star. I found the Pulse Triangle to be easy to use and rewarding in the results. I am able to add my own accompaniment to most tunes, from Fleetwood Mac's 'Albatross' to Nirvana's 'Smells Like Teenspirit'. I did have some trouble mastering the later as higher tempo tunes tend to be difficult to keep up with. My girlfriend likened me to an epileptic gymnast as she watched me playing along to the William Tell Overture.

In summary if you are looking for a way into music and want a simple instrument that tests the water then the Pulse Triangle is for you. It's cheap, enjoyable and very forgiving. However it is not recommended for playing naked.

I can see clearly now the mice have gone..., December 23, 2002
The Petzl Tikka came to my rescue last year when I had a little trouble with rodents in our basement. My girlfriend and I lost our pet mouse one saturday night, when it slipped out of her hand. A few weeks later we heard a lot of scrabbling coming from under the stairs and decided the little fellow must have found a friend and started a family. Hence the need for some powerful lighting that would still allow me to keep both hands free!

We purchased a Petzl Tikka and were initially very suprised by the comfort and ease with which the item could be fitted. It sat snugly on my head and remained there despite some quite violent movement on my part. Even when swinging a spade above my head the Tikka stayed firmly in place. And as for the quality of the light I can only say that it is superb. The beam was clear and sharp enough to light every corner of our very large basement. Its power at close range was such that the mice were transfixed like rabbits in headlights which helped my task no end. In fact we even tested it on a camping trip this fall, and the beam was visible even when I was stood on top of a hill around a mile away! In short if you are looking for a lamp which is practical and extremely durable then I can do no more than recommend the Tikka.
