In my early career, I was mostly feeling in awe of Tom’s academic prestige, because his opinion could have a big influence on my career. At certain point I started to appreciate his actual teachings more, because he embodies a well-balanced pragmatic idealist. Whenever I am having doubts about living a principled life, I would reflect on how Tom would have done.
