If the tint is implemented using a color coating, the energy saving premise would be in vain, because the color coating absorb certain frequency from the light spectrum (hence the color) and transform that energy into heat which is dispensed instead of utilized. An energy efficient color light source would be implemented using LED. However, LED color tends to be too cold, and not very pleasing to the eye.
